Fakestival

Maryport will be rocking on Bank Holiday Sunday 29th May to the sounds of The Killerz, Antarctic Monkeys, All Mod Cons (The Jam) and Green Date as the town's rugby club hosts the second ‘Summer Fakestival'.

As the name suggests, the ‘Fakestival' is a budget music festival with tribute bands taking the headline slots. This year, we will also have a second stage in the clubhouse, hosting both up and coming indie bands and a couple of local acts, bringing you 11-12 bands in total throughout the day.

The idea for the festival is based on the hugely popular Glastonbudget, now it its 7th year, that regularly attracts crowds of over 5,000. We are hoping to build on last year's event, and hopefully next year, have a full weekend of tributes.

The good thing about tributes is they play all the best songs that people want to hear.'

Don't be put off by the tribute bit, these acts are serious musicians, Green Date played to over 50,000 people in Las Vegas on New Years Eve, and the bands regularly play in front of audiences of up to 5,000 people!!

Watching Jam tribute ‘All Mod Cons' is like stepping back in time to when The Jam were in their 80's heyday!! They will be headlining the Bar Stage at night.

The Killerz have rapidly gained a reputation for their stage shows and their sing-a-along indie anthems always leave their audiences screaming for more at every encore.

The Arctic Monkeys will be releasing a new album and playing all the major festivals this year, but rest assured, The Antarctic Monkeys will capture the raw and exiting music of their first two albums, and will recreate the atmosphere of the early Arctic's gigs, something you just don't get at the stadiums and larger festivals.

So, who will be headlining the marquee? ....well that's up to you!!
When you purchase a ticket from one of the outlets, you will be given a voting slip, and you can vote who you want to see headline. With a choice of The Killerz, Antarctic Monkeys, Green Date plus one more tribute act to be announced, the order will go be the number of votes each act receives.

With 11 to 12 bands playing throughout the course of the day, there will be something for every age group. Unlike their grown up festival counterparts, we promise to make the Fakestival a ‘rip-off free zone' with ticket prices, beer, food and the availability of toilets etc. made to ensure you spend your day enjoying the bands rather than standing in queues.

‘Our aim is simply to ensure the event is safe and well organised with top entertainment'

Don't worry if it rains, as both stages are covered, so you can buy your ticket in advance without worrying about the weather!!

Last year's event was a sell-out, so don't delay in getting your tickets, as this year's event is sure to sell out again.
