Rosehill is delighted to welcome back British Jazz Awards winner, Alec Dankworth, on Saturday 30 January at 8.00pm, soon after his appearance with Nigel Kennedy in September last year as part of the Magnificent Jazz Jam during our 50th anniversary weekend.
Alec, son of Johnny Dankworth and Cleo Laine, has worked with artists as diverse as Stephanne Grappelli and Van Morrison. After studying at Berklee College of Music, Boston, USA, Alec became a member of various groups, notably Clark Tracey and Nigel Kennedy.
During a period of residency in New York he played with the illustrious Duke Ellington Orchestra and joined the Dave Brubeck Quartet. His group Alec Dankworth's Spanish Accents released its first CD in July 2008 to critical acclaim.
Spanish Accents features some of Europe's leading musicians - Mark Lockheart plays saxophone, Phil Robson on guitar, Rowland Sutherland on flute, and Demi Garcia on drums.
They will be performing Spanish folk tunes with a flamenco rhythm and compositions from Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie and Jack DeJohnette.
This promises to be a sensational and sultry evening of great Jazz music.
